Elk Lever Wrap
These lever wraps are made with the same supple elk hide that our popular Elk butt covers are made with. The elk lever wraps are 2.5 inches long and are made to cover and cushion the inside of the lever on standard sized levers. The wraps include a wrap piece with a extra strip of leather for cushioning on the underside, two needles, sinew loop, and a length of sinew to sew up the wrap.
To install flip your rifle upside down so that the bottom of your rifle is facing up towards you. Then take the lever wrap and place it inside the lever so that the ends meet on the outside of the lever facing you. Take the length of sinew with two needles on the end and feed one needle through the bottom hole, across the lever, and up through the opposite side bottom hole. You should now have a straight line across the bottom holes and now need to pull both needles upward to even the length of sinew on each side before starting to lace up (like starting a lace set in a shoe).
Thread the sinew crisscross down the length of the wrap on the lever while pulling tight so the ends of the wrap meet after each set of holes are threaded. Halfway through lay the extra loop of sinew under your stitching with the knotted end facing the already threaded part of the wrap and enough sticking out so later you can pull on the knot.
Continue threading the wrap until the end. When you reach the end run both needles through the last holes double each way to get a solid line at the end, then tie a knot with both threads of sinew. Place the knot through the loop end of the loop of sinew you sewed over and pull on the knot end of the loop to bring the thread knot under the laces of the lever wrap so its not exposed. You are now ready to shoot!
